Ingredients of Viennese Torte
- Prepare 6 oz of chocolate chips.
- You need 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream.
- Make ready 1/2 cup of butter.
- It’s 4 of egg yoilks.
- You need 2 tbsp of powdered sugar.
- Make ready 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
- Make ready 12 oz of pound cake you can use a frozen one thawed ike a sarah lee pound cake works well.
Viennese Torte instructions
- combine chocolate chips, butter and cream in saucepan heat to simmer to melt chocolate and butter mix well cool to lukewarm.
- add egg yolks, vanilla and sugar beat until smooth.
- chill until it is of spreading consistancy.
- slice cake the horizontally into 6 layers.
- spread chocolate filling between each layet and cover top and sides.
- chill at least 2 hrs.
- slice into thin slices.
- NOTE.
- This recipe is a passed down recipe from my grandmother we have been eating it this way for years BUT if you are concerned about undercooked egg yolks use the pasterized eggs!.
