  1. Prepare 6-7 pieces of medium sized prawns.
  2. Prepare 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder (for marination).
  3. It’s 1/4 tsp of salt (for marination).
  4. Prepare 1 of medium sized potato, cut into small cubes.
  5. Prepare 2 tsp of mustard oil.
  6. Take 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds.
  7. Make ready 1 of bay leaf.
  8. Take 1 of tomato Paste.
  9. It’s To taste of Salt to taste (for gravy).
  10. Take 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder (for gravy).
  11. It’s 1/2 tsp of cumin powder.
  12. You need 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.
  13. Prepare 1/4 tsp of garam masala powder.
  14. It’s 1/2 tsp of chopped coriander leaves.

Aloo Chingri Dalna (Bengali Style Prawn Recipe with Potato) step by step

  1. Remove all the shells from the prawns, devain them, clean them thoroughly and then marinate them with salt & turmeric powder.
  2. Take the oil in a microwave safe bowl & put it inside the microwave. Heat the oil at high power for 1 minute.
  3. Then add the bay leaf and cumin seeds into the oil and put the bowl back into the microwave & heat it at high power for 1 minute.
  4. Then add the potatoes, cover the bowl & microwave it at high power for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Now add the prawns, cover again and microwave for 3 minutes.
  6. Then remove the bowl & add the tomato paste.
  7. Add the turmeric powder & salt.
  8. Then add the cumin powder & red chilli powder.
  9. Mix everything very well, then put the bowl inside the microwave and microwave it for 2 minutes.
  10. After that remove the bowl & stir everything well.
  11. Now pour some water to make a thin gravy or in Bengali we call it as 'jhol'.
  12. Then put the bowl into the microwave & cook it uncovered for 1 minute.
  13. Then cover the bowl & microwave it for another couple of minutes.
  14. Lastly mix the garam masala powder & chopped coriander leaves with the dalna & it's ready to serve.
  15. Serve the 'dalna' with steaming hot rice.
