  1. It’s 2 cups of flour.
  2. Prepare 1 tbsp of yeast.
  3. Prepare 1 cup of milk I used both coconut and whole.
  4. You need 1/8 of sugar.
  5. You need 1 tsp of oil.

They are a spongy and sweet-tasting golden brown doughnut of either triangular or square.For mahamri, yeast is the rising agent of choice.For authentic mahamri, use yeast, not baking powder.I also used self raising flour in the past, and it did not taste as authentic.

  1. Sieve flour into a bowl.
  2. Separately mix 1/2 cup warm milk with oil and yeast. Mix well and rest for 3 minutes..
  3. To the flour add in sugar and the remaining milk..
  4. Add the yeast mixture into the flour mixture.
  5. Mix into a sticky dough.
  6. Transfer dough into oiled surface and knead for around six minutes.
  7. Place in a bowl, cover and let rise for 1 hour till it's double it's size.
  8. Divide intobballs, cover and let rise for another 10 minutes.
  9. Roll each ball on a lightly floured surface and divide into four. Repeat for all the balls..
  10. Let rise for another 5 minutes.
  11. Deep fry on both sides..
  12. Serve with beverage or curry of choice.
